Concrete Pool Decks in Orange

We pour new concrete pool decks that drain away from the water, grip under wet feet and stay comfortable on a summer afternoon. One person walks your yard with you, answers your questions and runs the job through to a rinsed-off deck.

A Deck Built Around How You Use Your Pool

A pool deck works harder than most concrete around your home. It gets splashed with chlorinated or salt water, baked in the sun and walked on barefoot by kids who are running when they should not be. The surface has to be textured enough to grip, light enough to stay cooler, and sloped so water heads to the yard or a drain instead of back into the pool.

We handle new pool decks and full replacements of tired old ones. That includes the joint where the deck meets your coping, which matters more than most people expect. If it is not detailed right, water gets under the slab and the trouble starts there.

From the first phone call, you deal with one person. That person measures, explains your options, schedules the crew and is the one you talk to on pour day. No relaying questions through three people.

What Your Pool Deck Project Includes

  1. 01

    Removal of the old deck

If there is an existing deck, we break it out, haul it away and protect your coping, tile and pool equipment while we work. The pool gets covered so dust and debris stay out of the water.

  2. 02

    Base and soil prep

Clay soil is common here and it swells when wet. We grade and compact a solid base so the new slab has even support under it.

  3. 03

    Reinforcement and joints

We set rebar or wire mesh and plan control joints so any shrinkage cracking follows a straight line instead of wandering across the deck. A flexible, sealed expansion joint goes between the deck and the coping.

  4. 04

    Slope and drainage

Every deck is formed to pitch away from the pool. Where the yard does not allow that on its own, we add deck drains or a channel drain.

  5. 05

    Your choice of finish

Options include a broom finish, a salt finish with a soft pitted texture, a cool-deck topping, or a pattern from our stamped concrete work. We will show you how each one feels underfoot and how it holds up.

  6. 06

    Cleanup

We clear forms and debris, wash down the work area and leave the deck ready to cure.

Signs It Is Time for a New Pool Deck

  • Water runs toward the pool

If puddles drift back to the coping or sit against it after you hose off, the slope is wrong. That water carries dirt into the pool and soaks the ground under the slab.

  • Sections have heaved or sunk

Raised edges and uneven panels are trip hazards on a wet surface. They usually point to soil movement under the deck.

  • The surface is slick or worn smooth

Old finishes wear down over the years. A deck that feels slippery when wet is worth replacing before someone falls.

  • Too hot to walk on

Dark or dense finishes can scorch bare feet on a summer afternoon. A lighter color or cooler topping makes the yard usable again.

  • Gaps at the coping

A wide or empty joint between deck and coping lets water reach the soil behind the pool wall. When the deck is replaced, that joint is rebuilt properly.

How Your Pool Deck Job Runs

  1. 1

    Site visit and estimate

Your contact comes by to measure, look at drainage and access, and go over finish options with you. Afterward you receive a written estimate with every piece of the work broken out on its own line.

  2. 2

    Tear-out and base prep

We cover the pool, break out the old concrete, then grade and compact the ground underneath. When your project calls for a permit, we pull it before any work begins.

  3. 3

    Forms, steel and drains

Forms go in at the correct pitch, reinforcement gets placed, any drains are set, and the expansion joint at the coping is laid out.

  4. 4

    Pour and finish

The crew places and finishes the concrete in a single day, working in the texture you chose. Control joints are cut at the right moment to guide shrinkage.

  5. 5

    Cure and walkthrough

We clean up and explain how to care for the curing slab. Light foot traffic is usually fine after a day or two, and patio furniture can go back in about a week.

What Shapes the Cost of a Pool Deck

No two pools sit in the same kind of yard, so we price each deck only after we have stood on it. Your estimate is itemized, which means you can see what the demo, the base work and the finish each add. The factors below tend to move the total the most.

Size and shape
More square feet means more concrete and more hours. Curves, wraparounds and odd angles also need extra forming compared with a plain rectangle.
Finish choice
A broom finish is the simplest option. Salt finishes, cool-deck toppings and stamped patterns each bring added steps and materials.
Removing an old deck
Tearing out existing concrete and hauling it off adds labor and disposal fees. A thick slab or one packed with steel takes longer to break up.
Access to the backyard
With a wide gate, the truck can get concrete close to the pool. A tight side yard can mean wheelbarrows or renting a pump truck.
Drainage and soil
Extra deck drains, more grading, or weak soil that calls for a deeper base all raise the price.

Pool Deck Questions We Hear Often

Do you have to drain my pool?

In most cases, no. We cover the water and shield the coping and tile while we tear out and pour. If something about your pool needs a different plan, we will tell you during the site visit.

Which finish stays coolest?

Light colors run cooler than dark ones, and cool-deck toppings are designed to bounce heat back. Plenty of people also find a light salt finish comfortable on bare feet. We bring samples so you can touch them and compare.

How soon can we swim?

As soon as the crew finishes cleanup and pulls the pool cover, you can use the water. The deck needs a day or two before light foot traffic, so step in carefully during that first week.

Will the new deck crack?

Some fine hairline cracks are a normal part of concrete drying and pulling in slightly. Good base prep, the right reinforcement and well-placed control joints keep that movement small and steer any cracks along straight, planned lines.

Who do I talk to during the job?

The same person who wrote your estimate. They book the crew, are there on pour day and answer your questions right up until cleanup is finished.
